Signs of Gum or Periodontal Disease

Stages of Periodontal Disease
With a strong, healthy gum comes the foundation for stronger teeth and a brighter smile. Prolonged bacteria and tartar buildup on the teeth can cause gum inflammation and bleeding when brushing your teeth. This is only the first stage of periodontal disease.
Stage One - Gingivitis
Stage One - Gingivitis

The only reversible stage since it only involves the tartar buildup. This stage is painless, which is why it might go undetected. Good oral care and regular dental checkups can treat and reverse gingivitis.

Stage Two - Slight Periodontal Disease
Stage Two - Slight Periodontal Disease

Here the infection would have spread to the bones and is no longer reversible with simple oral hygiene. The probing depth (the space below the gum tissue alongside your tooth) is between 3 to 5 mm.

Stage Three - Moderate Periodontal Disease
Stage Three - Moderate Periodontal Disease

The probing depth increases to 5 to 7 mm which allows for bacteria to attack further; your bloodstream and immune system. If left untreated, this can progress to tooth loss, gum sensitivity, and bleeding.

Stage Four - Advanced Periodontal Disease
Stage Four - Advanced Periodontal Disease

This dangerous stage requires periodontal surgery, as the spread of bacteria will evolve and you will be more at a higher risk of bone loss. If left untreated, this will cause gaps between the teeth, patients needing dentures and other serious problems.

Gum disease is very common because it progresses painlessly with few obvious signs at the start. Without dental checkups, it may progress to more advance stages that require more serious treatments.
We can help more people receive the therapy they require by reducing the fear associated with gum surgery.

LANAP is a single-visit technique that treats the entire mouth.

Ultrasonic devices will remove any tartar from the roots of your teeth after slightly numbing your mouth. We’ll utilize the laser to seal the treated region as a last step, allowing your gums and bone to heal. Recovery time is usually less than 24 hours. Furthermore, there is almost no chance of infection. You’ll notice a difference in your gums almost immediately!
